Printed in the Year 1750.  Vols. I – IV.  ALSO, The New Testament….Rhemes…MDCCLII [1752].  Vols. I & II.

Very rare complete set in excellent condition of Challoner's revision of the famous Douay Rheims Version.  This consists of all four volumes of the first edition of his Old Testament and the 1752 edition of his Rheims New Testament.  Although there were earlier editions of the New Testament, Herbert (1089) states that the 1752 edition is usually added to the four-volume Old Testament to make a complete Bible.  All copies finely bound in half leather and marbled boards.  Titles in red and black.  New Testament has two vols. with separate title pages bound into one part.  Lightly and uniformly browned throughout.  Old English spellings of Doway (Douay) and Rhemes (Rheims) are used.  Last leaf of Vol. IV as marginal loss, slightly affecting text.  Otherwise, in remarkably good condition, with no shaved headlines, writing or underlining.  407; 492; 484; 296; & 239 pp.  The set $8,650.
